Very interesting how so many of these phrases we use to today can be sourced back to Victorian times! Victorians and their obsession with death was a great read! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I wouldn't mind that. I got the complete fiction a couple years ago and managed to read it in a year, wish I hadn't so I would have more to read. He has a couple with other authors that I haven't read though. He's good. Some I wouldn't recommend to others you know, fooooooor example, The Reanimator, while I find it interesting, is grisly and morbid, and then there is The Rats in the Walls with his infamous cat. I have the complete Poetical works of H.P. Lovecraft coming so I do have more Lovecraft, yay!
I have the complete Poe, but I find his stuff so hard to read, the famous ones, the ones mentioned on the back, were good, but I've finished those . . . I love The Raven though, thank you Simpsons.
I have the two annotated Lovecraft volumes by Leslie S Klinger 👌 I believe he ghost wrote a lot of stories as well - it migh be Library of America that published them in one book.
The Raven is a masterpiece! My favourite Poe story so far is The Tell-Tale Heart, but you're right about Poe being hard to read
I would never have guessed that a phrase such as "taking a dirt nap" went that far back. Really interesting post!
Thank you 😁
Another great read!
Glad you're enjoying them 😁
Always an interesting read!
Thank you 👍

Thank you 😁 yeah it was such a fascinating time back then!
I like "The Tomb," that's a good one. Always like a Lovecraft reference or mention.
This was very interesting, thank you.
I liked it too! I've been reading Lovecraft over the last couple of years and I really like him, hopefully there'll be plenty more references 📚

I'll have to check that out, thanks. Yeah, I have, or had, The Raven memorized. So good.
It's really short but also really good. Best short story ever written ✍️
Another good one, not horror, but still really good is The Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred Lord Tennyson, if you haven't read that one.
