A Supernatural Story - A lamplighter's eerie night reveals sinister secrets and phantom dangers in the gaslit City of Violshire. Will he survive the unseen horrors?
This is one of a few recent stories I read where the horror was left mysterious and unexplained. I like it that way - a monster or event is much more terrifying when it's left to the imagination.
Good imagery here too, the scene with all the lights blinking out ran like a movie shot in my mind.
I agree about leaving the monster ambiguous, it's much better to leave it to the imagination.
I don't know if you saw my note about this story, but this really happened to me when I was walking home one night from a friend's house. A car kept driving past me with no lights on and I don’t know how the driver could navigate 🤷♂️ lol

I loved this. I do love a story that leaves us with an open ending rather than tying everything up in a little bow.
