Here is a 2 two-month wrap-up :)

I am about three-quarters into The Blade Itself.
Hammering Joe Abercrombie interviews. His character work is majestic.

I absolutely attacked the outline to a novella/novel that I put together a little while ago. The novella/novel is my take on the Spring-Healed Jack urban legend.
Ideas and motivation collided and I had to flesh the outline out while the ideas were fresh and it’s a meaty bitch now, let me tell you.
I still have to finish some stories for my collection, In Plain Sight, Unseen, so I put this aside so I wasn’t distracted any longer.
I ordered myself a copy of the 10th-anniversary edition of The Blade Itself. Just reading Joe Abercrombie is a lesson in writing character-driven stories.
The book arrived on Saturday evening and I took a picture to use as my Sword & Saturday contribution, but I forgot to post it… Maybe I will roll it over to Warrior Wednesday next week.
I did.

It’s been about a month since I came onto my Substack Dashboard - I had a busy one!
I have since acquired the entire First Law Trilogy 10th-anniversary editions, and the hardcover edition of Best Served Cold. I am slowly wading through Joe Abercrombie’s books in publication order. I haven’t read any of them after Best Served Cold and when I do I will be further than I have ever been from home, ask Samwise.
That leads me to the concentrated crock of putrescence that is The Cringe of Power series 2. Against all odds, they managed to make it worse than series one. They only had a billion dollars, so we can’t be too harsh on them.
I had a failed attempt at reading The Creeper by A. M. Shine. I only managed 21 pages due to the offensive odour that the tortured similes kicked out. Goodreads was a treasure trove of comedy when it came to the comments on the similes which you may read in your own time.
The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was when talking about two characters going for a trek, one of them used, ‘his scarf to dab the sweat from his brow like an out-of-shape boxer who’d just gone twelve rounds.’ To me, that reads like the author is saying that out-of-shape boxers who have just gone twelve rounds use a scarf to dab their brow. What the fuck?

I posted my first post in a while today - a light piece about the upcoming Robert Eggers film, Nosferatu!
I also found out that Guillermo Del Toro is directing a Frankenstein adaptation. A few days after finding this out, the man himself announces that filming has wrapped.
I’ve got a few finishing touches on my next Victorian Vignettes essay, and I’m more or less done with the next story from my collection and will be able to schedule them both this week!
