Writing
Word Count: The word count for my current work in progress is… 24,221.
It’s really starting to take shape now. I’ve never written a novel, and it’s fascinating to see it come together.
When In Plain Sight, Unseen is released, I can start to share more of what it’s about with you!
You can preorder In Plain Sight, Unseen NOW.
I posted my notes for another story in In Plain Sight, Unseen, in a behind-the-scenes look at the initial stages of my writing. Below are links to that behind-the-scenes post, and the story itself:
👉 Watchdog
I wrote an essay about pubs in gaslamp fiction.
Reading
The remaining books related to The Dark Tower series, and the order I am reading in, is as follows:
Jerusalem’s Lot (collected in Night Shift)
Salem’s Lot
One For the Road (collected in Night Shift)
It
Insomnia
Everything’s Eventual (collected in Everything’s Eventual)
Low Men in Yellow Coats (collected in Hearts In Atlantis)
Black House
Pet Sematary
I couldn’t get into the writing style, so I quit and switched to the audiobook. I still couldn’t get into it, so I quit altogether.
Watching
The Institute
Probably won’t watch this again.
Stranger Things
I’ve nearly finished a rewatch of this.
Series 1 & 2 are incredible!
Series 3 was really bad in some areas. Erica is awful. Every male (including the children) is emasculated, demeaned and subservient. Misandry packaged as feminism. Making men incompetent, bumbling, baffoons isn’t female empowerment.
Series 4 leans into the darker elements and also the goofier elements from series 3, like Murray, Erica and Robin.
Overall, it’s a great show and I’m glad series 5 is coming soon.
